BLANCHE L. MARTIN

Blanche, the daughter of James C. and Anna Belle Wallace Lush, was born on March 31, 1911, at Hawarden. She was a graduate of the Hawarden High School, and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, with a Primary Teachers Certificate. She moved to Newton, IA., in 1949, and was employed by the Maytag Company. She retired after 22 years, on March 31, 1973, in the Purchasing Department.

Blanche was united in marriage with Harold Randolph Martin, on August 6, 1949, in Des Moines. She moved to Altoona, IA., in 1981.

Death came to Blanche at the age of 84, on Thursday afternoon, November 2, 1995, at the Altoona Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold on April 17, 1986; a sister in infancy; and her four brothers: James, Ralph, Homer and Delmar.

Those left to honor Blanche's memory include her three step children, including Loretta, Mrs. Edwin Miller of Newton; her nine step children [i.e., grandchildren], fifteen step great-grandchildren and eight step great-great-grandchildren.
