M. H. LUKE LUYMES

"Luke" Luymes, 71, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1991 at his home.

Mr. Luymes was born Nov. 25, 1919 in Orange City. He graduated from Orange City High School and from Northwestern College. He attended Nettleton College and received his certificate in accounting from Dunn and Bradstreet.

He married Ruth A. Van Oort on Aug. 15, 1941 in Orange City. He was an accountant from 1946-52 for Sioux Hudson, was general manager from 1952-58 for White Motor Co., and an accountant for L. G. Everist Co. from 1958-64. He was controller for the Iseman Corp. from 1964 until he retired in 1982.

He served in the Army from 1944-46 in the Philippine Islands.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, a charter member of the Singing Legionaires, a 45-year member of the American Legion, a member of the 40 et 8 and the DAV. He was past treasurer of the National Association of Accountants, past member of the Elks Lodge No. 262, and a charter member of South Sioux Kiwanis Club. He was active in Sioux Falls YMCA and the Luke's "Hi Y" won the city championship three consecutive years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald of Waterloo and Dave of Pottsboro, Tex.; one daughter, Marinelle Luymes Lawrence of Lewisville, Tex.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Conrad of Sioux Falls.

Services were held Nov. 27 at First Reformed Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church building fund or the Sioux Valley Hospital Hospice Program.
