From the Sioux Center News, Jan. 19, 1939:

ISAAC LUYMES, 52, SHOT HIMSELF WITH 22 RIFLE -- Left Note of Farewell

Isaac Luymes of Orange City committed suicide by shooting himself in the right temple with a 22 calibre rifle Saturday afternoon. According to coroner Chas. Vander Ploeg the accident happened in the garage back of the Luymes house at about 2:30 in the afternoon, although the body was not found until 7 o'clock in the evening. He left a note on the steering wheel of the car in the garage which clearly established his death by suicide and indicated financial worry.

Isaac Luymes is well known in this community. For some years he farmed near Maurice and later between Sioux Center and Orange City. The past years he has been selling Rawleigh products. He was 52 years old and apparently in good health. The funeral was held in Orange City Tuesday afternoon. He leaves behind his wife and two sons, Laverne, 19, a student in N.W. Junior College and Glen, 15, a high school student.
