SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. NELLIE LUYMES

Funueral services were held for Mrs. Nellie Luymes, 88, on Wednesday morning at the Trinity Reformed Church with Rev. Donald Lenderink officiating. Mrs. Luymes died at the Heritage Home on Monday. Special music was furnished by Paul Muyskens, Willis Rozeboom, Henry Van Aartsen and Alfred Aalberts. Mrs. Clifford Bogaard was organist. Pallbearers were Lawrence De Cook, Harry De Jong, Nelson De Jong, Gerrit Aalberts, William Behrend and Marvin Vander Wel. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery under the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Mrs. Luymes was born Nov. 5, 1882, to Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Jong, an old pioneer family that came to Sioux county in 1870. She was born on the homestead 6 miles southwest of Orange City. She married Herman J. Luymes on Sept. 12, 1907; he died in February of 1938. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Atwood (Ellen Mae) Scott of Omaha, Nebraska; two sons Conrad and Marion of Sioux Falls.

An obituary in the Alton Democrat, Aug. 26, 1971, adds this information:

Mrs. Luymes was a member of the American Legion auxiliary, of the Orange City garden club and the Federated Women's club.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sophie Berends and Jeanne Luymes, both of Orange City, five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her sons' names are given as Conrad and Luke.
A card of thanks from the family is signed Ellen Scott, Conrad Luymes, and Luke Luymes.
