Mrs. Cynthia Peuse, age 95, of Orange City, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, July 3, at 10:00am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Perry De Groot will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Cynthia Wilmina was born on March 4, 1915, in Orange City, the daughter of Abraham and Jeanette (Reekers) Van Peursem. She was raised in Orange City.

On October 8, 1940, she married Evert John Peuse in Orange City. They farmed west of Orange City, where she was a homemaker. In 1963, they moved into Orange City, where she was a cook in institutions and restaurants. "Ed" passed away on October 18, 1974, in Orange City.

In August of 2002, "Cynth" moved to the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City, and in March of 2005, she transferred to the Heritage House.

She was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she belonged to the Ruth Circle and later the Priscilla Circle. She was involved in the Farm Bureau, especially the women’s chorus. She was known as a good cook, particularly pies, and she liked doing handwork. Her family was very important to her, and she loved them dearly.

Survivors include three children, Lynne Peuse, of Grand Junction, Colorado; Evan Peuse, and his wife, Shawn, of Hudsonville, Michigan; and Shari, and her husband, Don Baker, of Orange City; a daughter-in-law, Laura Peuse, of Holstein; eleven grandchildren, Timothy Peuse, and his wife, Nancy; Sarah, and her husband, Doug Hanson; Amy Henderson, Michael Peuse, and his wife, Naomi; Adam Peuse, and his wife, Kelly; Erron Peuse, and his wife, Trisha; Emily, and her husband, Joshua Benton; Allison Peuse; Heath Baker, and his wife, Cassie; Morgan Baker; and Shelby Baker; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Willard Van Peursem, of Orange City; and a sister and her husband, Marcia and Lowell Mouw, of Spencer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Duane Peuse; a brother and his wife, John and Nellie Van Peursem; and a sister-in-law, June Van Peursem.
