Herman Luymes was born May 27, 1874 at Orange City, Ia., son of Robert and Alida Luymes. He lost his father at the age of six and when only 16 years old came to Boyden where he lived until his death. At the age of 27 years he was united in marriage to Emma Ver Doorn. To this union was born one child, Adeline, who preceded her father in death at the age of 18, eleven years ago.
Mr. Luymes, 66, passed away suddenly in the early hours of June 13.
He will be remembered by all for his uprightness and his friendly nature which never became ruffled. He was a member of the First Reformed church of Boyden and at one time a member of the school board for 15 years, a member of the Farmers Coop. Ass'n. and 12 years of the Peoples Store. At the time of his death he was a member of the town council.
He is survived by his widow, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 17 at 1 o'clock at the house and 1:30 at the First Ref. church with Rev.Mr. Brink and Rev. Mr. Straks of Sanborn officiating. Interment was made in the Boyden cemetery.
