REV. F. LUBBERS, PASTOR IN SIOUX CENTER FOR TWENTY YEARS, DIED UNEXPECTEDLY -- Funeral Services in Sioux Center Thursday

Rev. F. Lubbers died unexpectedly at the age of 69 years in the hospital at Fondulac, Wisconsin, last Sunday [Oct. 12]. He was taken ill on Wednesday and was taken from Friesland, Wis. to the hospital where he submitted to a gall bladder operation Friday, and died very unexpectedly Sunday.

Ted Lubbers left Monday morning in the company of Rev. Lubbers' three brothers, Bert, John and Henry and a brother-in-law, Otto Mouw, all of Orange City, to attend funeral services which were held at Rev. Lubbers' own church in Friesland, Wis. The services were held on Tuesday afternoon and he was brought back to Sioux Center where funeral services will be held today (Thursday) 1 o'clock from the Ted Lubbers home and First Reformed church beginning at 1:30. Rev. Brunsting will be in charge of the services and interment will be at Orange City in the family plot.

Rev. F. Lubbers served for twenty years as pastor of the First Reformed Church, from 1910 until 1930. He was the second of the three ministers that have served this church. In 1930, Rev. Lubbers left here for a church in Doon and his last charge was in Friesland, Wisconsin where he has been for the last six years.

Rev. F. Lubbers is survived by his widow and four sons, Rev. Raymond Lubbers, Gibbsville, Wis.; Clarence Lubbers, Constantine, Mich.; Robert Lubbers, Albany, New York; and Alfred Lubbers of Sioux Center. All the sons are home for Rev. Lubbers' funeral. Several of the church members from Friesland are here and many relatives from a distance.

Services for Rev. Mr. Lubbers

A very large group of people representing nearly every town of the surrounding community gathered together at the First Reformed church last Thursday afternoon Oct. 16 to pay their last respects to Rev. Mr. Frederick Lubbers, former pastor of the First Ref. congregation for nearly twenty years. He died on Sunday morning Oct. 12 following an operation at Fond-du-lac, Wisc. Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Mr. L. A. Brunsting with Rev. Mr. H. Colenbrander of Orange City delivering the message. [There follows a list of other ministers who took part in the services, and a note on musical selections.] Acting as pall bearers were members of the Consistory of the Reformed Church at Friesland, Wisc. of which he was pastor at the time of his death.
