Shirley A. Ludwig, Alton, age 62, died Friday [July 18] at the Methodist Hospital at Rochester, Minn., following a brief illness.

Services were held Monday, at 1:30 p.m. at Dover Avenue Alliance Church. Rev. Henry Eigersma officiated. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery, Alton, under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Shirley was born April 15, 1924 at Alton, the daughter of Christian and Hilda (Shaul) Gerst. She married Ronald Ludwig on Jan. 12, 1948 at Alton. Her entire life was spent at Alton.

She was a member of the Dover Avenue Alliance Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald; four daughters, Leanne Ludwig of Houston, Tex., Kathee Ludwig of Essex Junction, Vt., Mrs. Kenneth (Edie) Kroon of Alton, Mrs. Tom (Ellen) Bell of Aurelia; a son, Ron Ludwig Jr. of Garden City, Kan.; seven grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. John (Bev) Johnson of Richlands, N.C., Mrs. Edythe Scoblic of Alton, Mrs. Bob (Annie) Bergner of Remsen, and Mrs. Bob (Janice) Kole of Manassas, W.V.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters.
