LANDHUIS, LUBBERS

John Dirk Landhuis, son of John and Johanna Landhuis was born in Edgerton, Minnesota, on November 27, 1903. He lived his youth in the Edgerton and Hospers, Iowa vicinities and graduated from the Sheldon, Iowa High School. At the age of 17 years he moved to Boyden, Iowa. He then attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and returned to Boyden, Iowa.

On June 6, 1929, he was united in marriage to Elsie Lubbers of Orange City, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Boyden, Iowa where he taught school in the rural and public schools for 13 years. He then went into barbering for 10 years and after this was employed at the Boyden Creamery and Coop as an accountant and Office Manager. He was employed there at the time of his death which took place suddenly at his home, in Boyden on February 23, 1967 at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 26 days.

He is survived by his wife Elsie of Boyden, two daughters, Eleanor, Mrs. Willis Kleinwolterink of Sanborn, Iowa and Harriet, Mrs. Wilfred Cleveringa of Sioux Center, Iowa; five grandchildren, five brothers, Ben of Anaheim, California; Henry of Leota, Minnesota; Leonard of Glendale, California; Cornelius of Early, Iowa, and James of Englewood, California. Three sisters, Jennie, Mrs. Art Eernisse of Slayton, Minnesota; Lillian, Mrs. Herman Koerselman of George, Iowa and Elizabeth, Mrs. Cornie Koerselman of Boyden, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, 1967, at 1:30 P.M., from the First Reformed Church of Boyden. The Rev. Henry Schoon officiated. Interment was in the Boyden Cemetery of Boyden, Iowa. The Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center was in charge of arrangements.
