FUNERAL HELD AT BOYDEN FOR MRS. JOHANNA LANDHUIS

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7, for Mrs. Johanna Landhuis, 80, of Boyden. Rev. H. Steunenberg officiated at the funeral in the First Reformed church.

Mrs. Landhuis was born July 5, 1875, near Zeeland, Mich. She moved at the age of 3 with her parents to Alton, Ia.

She was married to John Henry Landhuis August 31, 1894, at Hospers, Ia. They lived at Hospers for four years, and then moved to Leota, Minn., where they farmed for 16 years. At that time they returned to Hospers. In 1920 they moved to Boyden where they have resided since. He died in February, 1948.

Survivors are six sons, Ben and Leonard, both of Glendale, Cal., Henry of Leota, John of Boyden, Cornelius of Harris, Ia., and James of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Eernisse of Slayton, Minn., Mrs. Herman Koerselman of George, Ia., and Mrs. Cornie Koerselman of Boyden; two sisters, Mrs. Reka Jacobsma and Mrs. Gilbert Mouw, both of Hospers; a brother, John Woertink of San Bernardino, Cal.; 43 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

A news note about her death in the Sioux County Capital, Nov. 10, 1955 (p. 2) says that she died Friday [Nov. 4] at 9:00 p.m. in the Sheldon Community hospital of a heart attack.
