Boyden: John Landhuis passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday [Feb. 18] at the Sheldon Hospital, after a short illness.

John Landhuis was born in Vriesenven, The Netherlands, November 7, 1868. He came to America with his parents when he was 12. On August 31, 1894 he was united in marriage to Johanna Woertink. The first two years they lived at Hospers, and then moved to a farm near Leota, Minn. where they farmed for sixteen years. In 1914 they moved to Hospers where they lived for five years. In 1918 they moved back to the farm at Leota, Minn., and in the fall of 1920 moved to Boyden where they have since made their home.

They were the parents of nine children, three daughters and six sons, who survive with the widow. The children are Mrs. Art Eernissee of Orange City, Ben Landhuis of Glendale, Calif., Henry H. Landhuis of Leota, Minn., Leonard Landhuis of Glendale, Calif., John D. Landhuis of Boyden, Cornelius Landhuis of Harris, Iowa, Mrs. Herman Koerselman of George, James A. Landhuis of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Cornie Koerselman of Middleburg. There are also 32 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His five brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Boyden Saturday, February 21, with Rev. C. Postma officiating. Interment was in the Boyden Cemetery.
