Eugene Joseph Maras, 47, of Alton, died Friday following a construction accident in Storm Lake.

Services were at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with Monsignor Nicholas Ruba officiating. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remson.

Mr. Maras was born Aug. 19, 1939 at Jackson, Minn., and was educated in the Jackson and Luverne, Minn., area. He was employed at Hanson Silo in Luverne. He married Sharon Swenson Dec. 30, 1966 at Laverne and the couple made their home there. In 1967 he worked for Younglove Construction Co. of Sioux City and lived in the Iowa and Minnesota areas. He was then employed by the Sherrill Construction Co. of LeMars for several years. In 1978 they moved to Alton and he was employed with Younglove Construction. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Patrick, Paul and Bradley, all at home; a daughter Kristy at home; six brothers, Francis of Kenneth, Minn., Louis and Dominic, both of Luverne, Minn., Vernard of Sioux Falls, S.D., Donald of Omaha, Neb., and Phillip of Des Moines; and six sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Theresa) Bradke of Lake Field, Minn., Mrs. Bill (Agnes) Thompson of Altoona, Mrs. Jim (Anita) Haggar of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Bertha Hassenbroek of Bondurant, Mrs. Eldon (Diane) Klaahsen of St. Ansgar and Mrs. John (Mary) Morrisehead of Urbana, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Louis and Evelyn (Baloun) Maras and a grandson, Sean Patrick Maras.
