They first lived in Dubuque County in this state where on November 9, 1880 J. P. Maiers was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Gaspar. This union was blessed with six children - four boys and two girls - all of whom are living. In March of 1883 the Maiers moved to Sioux County and located on a farm in the immediate vicinity of Hospers. The funeral services were held this Friday from St. Anthony's Catholic church and were conducted by Rev. H. J. Dries. Mr. Maiers was a highly respect man in the community and his honest dealings and kind ways had made him many friends and the funeral was therefore a large one. The children have the sincere sympathy of all their friends at this time.
