LANG, LIENHART, LUNDGREN, OFSTAD

Avis Lienhart Lang, 73, of Hawarden died Friday, May 26, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Alcester. Visitation was after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.

Mrs. Lang was born Sept. 3, 1921, on the Lundgren family farm in Big Springs Township, Union County, SD, the daughter of Emer and Olive (Ofstad) Lundgren. She graduated from Hawarden High School in 1939 and married Edward R. Lienhart March 7, 1942, in Abilene, Texas. They lived in California, returning to Hawarden after World War II. He died April 2, 1970. Mrs. Lang was co-owner of the Women's Shop in Hawarden and was later employed at other business, including Booth Drug for many years. She married William Lang Sept. 22, 1984. The couple also made their home in Hawarden. He died Jan. 11, 1995.

Mrs. Lang was a member of the United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries, and the Eagles Club, all of Hawarden.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Rusty Schoenemann of Tempe, AZ, Denice and Gary Ping of Ireton, and Annie and Matt Rostermundt of Sioux City; a stepson and his wife, Steven and Barbara Lang of Des Moines; a sister, Aloise Stockman of Bakersfield, CA; seven grandchildren, Geoff and Terri Schoeneman, Tracy, Chad, Jeb and Jessica Ping, and Nicholas Rostermundt; three step grandchildren, Nichole, Michelle and Jason Lang; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by an infant brother.

Memorials can be made in Mrs. Lang's name to the American Cancer Society.
