William F. Lang, 75, of Hawarden died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services were held 2 p.m. Friday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial was at Grace Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted. Visitation was held at noon Jan. 12, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Lang was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Hawarden, the son of Frank and Lena (Smyder) Lang. He attended Hawarden High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Pacific. He married Lola Heldt June 18, 1943, at Camp White, Ore. After the war, he worked at the Heldt and Son Implement in Hawarden, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Lang died Sept. 23, 1969. He married Avis Lienhart Sept. 22, 1984. The couple made their home in Hawarden.

Mr. Lang was a member of the Hawarden Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles Club.

Survivors include his wife; a son Steven and his wife, Barbara of Des Moines; three daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Rusty Schoeneman of Tempe, Ariz., Denice and Gary Ping of Ireton and Annie and Matt Rostermundt of Sioux City; three brothers, John of Shoshoni, Wyo., Jim of Atlanta, GA, and Francis of Rochester, NY; three sisters, Helen Aldrich, Margaret Hewitt and Mary Ann Barrett, all of Rochester, NY; 10 grandchildren, Nichole, Michelle and Jason Lang, Geoff and Teri Schoeneman, Tracy, Chad, Jeb and Jessica Ping and Nicholas Rostermundt; four great grandchildren, Geoffrey and Ryan Schoeneman and Josh and Kari Johnson.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Gerald and three brothers, Tom, Bob and Joseph.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Kidney Foundation.
