Judith Kay Langel, 40, of Alton, died Saturday [July 27] at a Sioux City hospital after an illness of one year.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. David Hogan officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. Rosaries were recited at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday in the parish hall in Alton.

Mrs. Langel, the former Judith Kay Hagge, was born May 4, 1945. She lived at Calumet, Iowa, until 1963 when she moved to Renwick. She graduated from Renwick High School in 1964 and completed LPN training at Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City. She moved to Alton in 1969, and married Dennis Langel on January 23, 1971. She was a member, and had served as president, of St. Mary's Catholic Guild. She had also been secretary of the Alton Ladies Bowling League and president of the women's board of Sioux Golf and Country Club.

She was a pianist and trumpeter and had earned numerous awards in high school state competition. She had played with the Cherokee Symphony Orchestra and had been a church organist.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jennifer and Kimberly, both at home; her parents, Wayne and Marie Hagge of Webster City; and one sister, Mrs. Les Punt of Sioux Center.
