Larson, Mrs. Clarence - 1909-1955

Mrs. Clarence Larson, 45, a resident of this vicinity all her life, died early Monday morning at the Hawarden hospital after an illness of about four months.

About the middle of May she submitted to a major operation in Sioux City. Later she was taken to the Hawarden hospital and then to her home. When her condition became critical Sunday she was again taken to the local hospital.

A prayer service will be held at the Frazier Funeral Home at 1:30 this afternoon (Thursday) with final services at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church. Rev. Robert Chapler of Sioux City, former pastor of the local church, will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill cemetery.

A daughter of Mr. & Mrs. L. L. Abbey, she was born November 7, 1909 on the farm two miles east of Hawarden. She attended the rural school and then entered Hawarden high school, graduating with the class of 1926. She was valedictorian of her class. After graduation she taught school for three years in Washington township.

She married Clarence Larson of Alcester in Sioux City May 21, 1930. After her marriage she lived on a farm in the Big Springs vicinity but for the past 11 years had resided on her parents' farm where she was born.

She was a member of the Methodist church of Hawarden and the W.S.C.S. of this church in which she was an active worker before her illness. She was also a member of June Rebekah Lodge No. 189 of which she was a past Noble Grand and at her death was secretary.

Besides the widower, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald C. Schmidt of LeMars, and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. L. L. Abbey of Hawarden. her mother has been ill for some time and confined to her home.

Mrs. Don Schmidt's Mother Succumbs

Mrs. Clarence Larson, 46, a resident of the Hawarden vicinity all her life,
died Monday, July 11, at the Hawarden hospital after an illness of about four
months. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden last Thursday, following
services at the Methodist church.

She was born Nov. 7, 1909, on the farm east of Hawarden. After graduation, she
taught school for three years in Washington township, Sioux county. She
married Clarence Larson of Alcester in Sioux City, May 21, 1930. After her
marriage she lived on a farm in the Big Springs vicinity, but for the past 11
years had resided on her parent's farm where she was born.

Besides the widower, she is survived by a daughter,. Mrs Donald C. Schmidt of
LeMars, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Abbey of Hawarden.
