Mrs. Mary Larson of Sioux City passed away at her home last Friday night following an extended illness. She suffered a stroke nine months ago and since then had been ill.
Funeral services were held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City at 11:30 Tuesday morning with Rev. A. P. Westerberg officiating. Another service was held at the Union Creek Lutheran church in Union County at 2:30 in the afternoon with Rev. D. J. Edwards officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery at Union Creek.
Mary Selberg, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Selberg, was born in Sweden Dec. 19, 1856, and so was nearly 81 years of age at the time of her death. She came to America in August, 1868, locating in Sioux City. Later that year she came to Sioux Valley township in Union County where she grew to young womanhood. In 1882 she was united in marriage with John M. Peterson, who passed away in 1888. Later she married John Larson and in 1904 they moved to Sioux City where she has since resided. She was an active member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City and was interested in the various organizations of the church. While living in Union County she took an active part in the Union Creek Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Esther Larson of Philip, S.D., and one sister, Miss Hannah Selberg of Akron, but who has been in Sioux City constantly during the long illness of Mrs. Larson. She also leaves two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a cousin of Mrs. S. W. Harker of Hawarden.
