Lars Larson, aged father of Mrs. C. D. Emmert of this city, passed away last Friday after an illness of several months duration, death being brought on by the infirmities of old age. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Emmert home, conducted by Rev. Wm. F. Vance, pastor of the Associated churches, and interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery.

Lars Larson, was born at Vollers, Norway, Dec. 12, 1837, and died at Hawarden June 2, 1922, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 20 days. He spent his early life in Norway and was educated and confirmed in the Lutheran church there. In 1869 he came to America and homesteaded on a farm near Hudson, on which he spent the remainder of his life, with the exception of the last few years which he spent in Hawarden. He was married in 1876 to Cecelia Tobiason, two children being born to them, one of whom, Mrs. Emmert, survives, the other dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in 1885. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his daughter, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

The deceased was a familiar figure on the streets of Hawarden up until his last illness prevented him from taking his walk to town, and he always met his friends with a cheery greeting. Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives in their great loss.
