Frank W. Mack, former Hawarden resident, died at Storm Lake this past week from cancer. He submitted to a surgical operation recently at which time the cancerous condition was discovered and it became known then that he could not recover. Funeral services were held at Storm Lake Tuesday.

Mr. Mack was about 50 years of age and spent the greater part of his life in Storm Lake. He was a graduate of the electrical engineering department of Iowa State College at Ames and shortly after his graduation came to Hawarden in 1908 as superintendent of the Hawarden light plant. He held this position for two years after which Mr. & Mrs. Mack left Hawarden. He was superintendent of light plants at Pomeroy and other places after leaving here and always continued to be employed in some branch of electrical work, for the past several years having worked in an engineering capacity for the Iowa Light, Heat & Power Company, making his home at Storm Lake. Mr. Mack entered the army in 1917 and rose to the rank of major in the chemical warfare service. He acquired many warm friends during his residence in Hawarden who will learn with regret of his untimely death. He had paid occasional visits to Hawarden in recent years and always enjoyed meeting his old friends here. He is survived by his widow and several children.
