Mr. Darrell Lukken, 56, Orange City, died Tuesday morning [April 30] at the Orange City Municipal Hospital following a two-year illness.
Services will be held Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, Orange City. Pastor Nathan Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City. Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Van Gelder Funeral Home.
Mr. Lukken was born May 6, 1928, at Newcastle, Neb., the son of Carl and Bertina (Rosendahl) Lukken. He married Dorothy Kamrath, Nov. 22, 1947 at Martinsburg, Neb. The couple lived at Ponca, Neb., prior to moving to Orange City 28 years ago. He has been a carpenter and was a salesman for Pecaut Equipment Company for 10 years prior to his illness.
Mr. Lukken was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Post 200 American Legion of Alton.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Roger of Alton and Bradley of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Debra) Miller of Omaha; four grandchildren, Michelle and Daniel Lukken and Todd and Kyle Miller; three brothers, Amos (Sonny) and Odin (Dinnie), both of South Sioux City, Neb., and Virgil of Castle Rock, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Aldean Buck, Mrs. Deloris Croy and Mrs. Creighton (Grace) Meyers, all of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, [and] two brothers, Orel and Leroy.
