Funeral services for Vernon March, 62, janitor at the public grade school in Hawarden who died Saturday morning at the hospital, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Williams officiated with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mr. March was born November 14, 1896, at Hot Springs, S.D., a son of Mr. & Mrs. D. B. March. He came to Alcester, S.D., as a boy and in 1919 moved to Hawarden.
In 1917 he married Dora Finch who died in 1924. On July 16, 1929 he married Jennie Herman.
He served as janitor the past ten years for the Hawarden and West Sioux grade school. He became ill several weeks ago.
Mr. March was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Survivors include the widow; three sons, Vyrlen of Riverside, Calif., Wilbur of Wilmington, Calif., and Arnold of Hawarden; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Gagnon of Vermillion, S.D.; six sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Millard of Alcester, Mrs. Velma Severson of Beresford, Mrs. Myra Wilde of Lake Preston, S.D., Mrs. Ethel Kershner of Homedale, Idaho and Mrs. Margaret Baxter and Mrs. Verlie Pierson, both of Riverside, Calif., and 9 grandchildren.
