The body of John R. Lesher was shipped here from Indianapolis, Ind., and burial was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery near the graves of his parents.

John R. Lesher, son of William A. and Elvira Jane Lesher, was born near Ireton March 11, 1888, and died in Indianapolis, Oct. 10, 1935. Death was due to an accident which resulted in a fractured skull. The deceased spent his early years on farms near Ireton, his parents living near Center Chapel and later on the E. French farm, southwest of town. From here he moved to Estherville, Iowa, with his parents. He was married to Marguerite Carver at Omaha, Neb., Feb. 19, 1918. Besides his wife, two children, Maxine and Richard, survive. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Dora Foes, Corning, Iowa; Mrs. Mary E. Coon, Washington, D.C., and Miss Clara Lesher, Des Moines, and one brother, Glen Lesher, Estherville, Iowa. He was brought up in a Christian Home and as a young man joined the Baptist church. A brief service was conduced at the grave by Rev. W. O. Harper and the casket opened for the relatives and friends to take a last look at the departed. The following old friends of the family acted as pall bearers, J.C. Stuckenbruck, E.L. Morrison, Geo. Brown, Wm. Taylor, J.A. Lindeman and Gordon Rogers. He was a cousin of B. W. Rogers and Mrs. Bertha Bahr of Ireton.
