Lars Gustaf Larson, father of August Larson and John Larson of this city, died at his home at Big Springs last Friday at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 14 days.
The deceased was born in Bodarna, in the province of Narke, Sweden, March 12, 1825. He was united in marriage with Maria Christina Eriksdotter in the year 1852 and had from this union nine children. His wife and three children preceded him in death.
He came to the United States April 12, 1883, and settled at Big Springs where he has lived since. He was a man of great physical strength and of a cheerful disposition, which largely accounts for his long life. For almost a year he has been confinded to his bed and often expressed a desire to be permitted to enter into the eternal rest. But he did not complain. He cheerfully said, "God knows when my time is up and then he will call me". His faith in God was that of a child trusting his father. He had the fullest assurance of the presence of God in his life. He leaves to mourn his death four sons and two daughters and their families; Mrs. Emma Anell, who still lives in Sweden, Gusten, August, John, Aaron and Amanda who have all been with him here.
The funeral was held from the house Monday afternoon, Rev. R. A. Arlander officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the east cemetery at Big Springs.
