Mrs. August (Lenore) Luken, 86, of Granville died unexpectedly Sunday, March 20, at her home.
Services were Saturday, March 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Rev. Francis Nemmers officiated at the mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen.
Mrs. Luken, the former Lenore Nelle, was born April 15, 1896 to Mr. and Mrs. John (Therese) Nelle at Fort Madison. She came to the Granville area as a child with her parents and received her education here.
She married August Luken in 1919 at Granville. They made their home in Yankton, S.D. until 1921 when they moved to Granville where he was in partnership at the Luken Lumber and Hardware Store until 1949. He died Sept. 24, 1958.
Survivors include one son, Robert of Roseville, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Colleen) Harm and Mrs. Alvin (Claris) Harm, both of Yankton, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Schwartz of Granville and Mrs. Clark (Pat) Carnes of Holstein; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Carol Jean, in infancy, her parents, four brothers and five sisters.
