C. J. Mallette of LeMars, father of Verne and Earl Mallette of this city, passed away about 7 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Sacred Heart hospital in LeMars. Mr. Mallette submitted to an operation for appendicitis recently and due to the fact that the appendix was ruptured his case was serious. His sons received word Tuesday evening that their father was to submit to a blood transfusion about 8 o'clock Wednesday morning and they had planned to be there at the time but about 6:30 Wednesday morning they received a second message advising them that their father was in a critical condition. They left immediately for LeMars but he had passed away before they reached his bedside.
