Mallette, Ruby, Mrs. Verne J. - 1907-1986

Ruby M. Mallette, 79, of Hawarden, died Friday, December 26, 1986, in a hospital in Hawarden after a brief illness.

Services were at 2 P.M., Tuesday, December 30, in the United Methodist Church in Hawarden. Rev. Paul Hansen officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Perry Bader, Norman Degen, Lloyd Youngkin, Richard Ball, Gary Wilkinson, and Ralph Bruget.

Mrs. Mallette, the former Ruby Dibbern, was born July 14, 1907, in Mineral Ridge. She married Verne J. Mallette May 19, 1927, in Mason City. He died May 2, 1981. She received her nurses training in Hawarden and was employed at the Hawarden Hospital. The couple moved to Suffolk, VA., where she was employed at the Suffolk Community Hospital from 1942 to 1946. They returned to Hawarden and she worked at the Hawarden Community Hospital for several years.

Mrs. Mallette was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Don of Doon and Forrest of Tempe, AZ; two brothers, William of Aurora, CO., and Richard of Trent, SD; five sisters, Mrs. Harm (Margaret) Smook of Lake Norden, SD., and Bernice Barnum, Ida Younie, Mrs. Louis (Birdie) Lewis and Mrs. Leo (Eloise) Van Zettern, all of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
