Edward Larson, 65, who spent most of his life in Hawarden, died last Thursday at the Veterans Hospital at Knoxville, where he had been a patient 13 years.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Barnard Funeral Home with Rev. S. A. Kruschwitz officiating. Mrs. John Morgan, with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as accompanist, sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "In the Garden". Members of Two Oakes Post of the American Legion were in charge of the military service at the graveside in Grace Hill Cemetery.

A son of Mr. & Mrs. John Larson, he was born November 16, 1889, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Shortly following the death of his father, Edward and his mother moved to Ireton. In 1904 the family moved to Hawarden. He was a graduate of Hawarden High School and for a number of years before he entered the service he was employed in the Stiekel Drug Store.

In 1918 he was called to the service of his country, serving until his medical discharge. He then returned to Hawarden, being employed at the Lilley hotel until he entered the hospital in 1941.

Survivors are three half-sisters, Mrs. Ethel Wallen of Des Moines, and Mrs. Irving Swift and Mrs. Lawrence Meeter of Hawarden and six nephews and nieces.
