Mrs. John D. Laudi, mother of Arthur R. Laudi of this vicinity, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P. J. O'Connell, in Ft. Dodge, at 10:40 Thursday night, Jan. 12th, following an illness for a few weeks. Mrs. Laudi was 88 years of age and death resulted from infirmities of her age.

Mathidle Grentzmann was born in Hamburg, Germany, Nov. 23, 1844. She received her education in Germany and when 23 years of age came to America for a visit with her sister at Davenport. Here she met and married John D. Laudi, who preceded her in death July 1, 1922. After their marriage Mr. & Mrs. Laudi moved to Toledo, Iowa, where Mr. Laudi engaged in the mercantile business. Later they lived at Tama and Paullina. Mr. Laudi continued in business in Paullina until 1896 and they then made their home in LeMars for two years when they moved to Fort Dodge where they lived for twenty-five years. Since the death of her husband she made her home with her daughter. She was the mother of seven children, five of whom died in infancy. She leaves two children, Arthur R. Laudi of Hawarden and Mrs. P. J. O'Connell of Ft. Dodge. There are two grandchildren, Margaret and John O'Connell.
