Funeral services will be held at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City at 10 A.M., September 4 for John Van Zanten, 79, of Alton, who died September 1 at Alton.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. John Hellinga and burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Orange City.

Mr. Van Zanten was born in The Netherlands, July 31, 1896, and came to the U.S. at the age of 12. He married Agnes Mulder March 14, 1920 in Lebanon. They farmed in Sioux County until 1934 when they moved to Alton. He was a railroad foreman until retiring in 1961. Mrs. Van Zanten died October 27, 1961.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Bertha) Rexwinkel, and Mrs. Harold (Sadie) Hansen, both of Alton, and Mrs. Adrian (Irene) Ekdom of Edgerton, Minn.; five sons, Cornelius and Dick, both of Orange City, John Jr. of Alton, Anthony of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Henry of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 19 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Charles Kleinhuizen of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Louis Toering of Pipestone, Minn., and Mrs. Ellis Kooi, Mrs. Gerrit Brands and Mrs. Gerrit Grevengoed, all of Rock Valley.
