Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Alton at 10:30 A.M., January 16 for Sylvester Minten, 76, retired farmer of Alton, who died at his home near Alton January 11.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mervin Hood and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Minten was born at Alton January 31, 1898, and was a lifelong resident of that community. He married Rose Pottebaum January 5, 1925, at Alton.

Survivors include the widow; six daughters, Mrs. James (Esther) McClure of Hornick, Mrs. G. W. (Rose Mary) O'Gara of Jackson, Neb., Mrs. Vernon (Edith) Staab and Mrs. Lyle (Ethel) Heidesch, both of Remsen, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Shockey of Winnebago, Minn., and Mrs. James (Carol) Schemmel of Shawnee, Kan.; four sons, Paul and Lloyd, both of Alton, Marvin of Denver and Harold of Dallas, Tex., 51 grandchildren; two great grandsons, two brothers, Peter and Bernard Minten, both of Alton, and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Mousel and Mrs. Olga Konz, both of Sioux City, and Mrs. Versteeg of Loveland, Colo.
