Mrs. Walter Horton, 88, Of Akron died Sunday, Dec. 2, in the Akron Hospital. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home. The Rev. Benard Nelson officiated.

Mrs. Horton, the former Helen C. Moyse, was born Nov. 23, 1896, at Lawton. She married Walter Horton Feb. 27,1918, at Lawton. They farmed in the Lawton and Bronson area before moving near Akron in 1937. In 1947 they retired and moved to Akron. He died in 1965 and she moved to the Akron Nursing Home in 1971. Mrs. Horton was a 35-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include five sons, Art of Pipestone, MN, Clarence of Hawarden, Wayne and Cecil, both of Akron and Glen of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Emral (Dorothy) Oloff of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Bappe of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Bertha Powell of Marcus; 27 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
