Funeral services were held at the Reformed Church in Maurice at 1:30 P.M., January 10 for Mrs. John Peelen, 89, of Maurice, who died at the Orange City hospital January 7.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Gary Van Koevering and burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery near Maurice.

Mrs. Peelen, the former Willemina Brink, was born at Maurice May 10, 1885. She was married on February 3, 1909, to John Peelen at Maurice. The couple farmed in the Maurice and Sheldon areas until 1931 when they moved to Sheldon.

After his death on December 31, 1956, she moved to Maurice. For the past year she had resided at Heritage House in Orange City.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jake (Mattie) Brink and Mrs. Alfred (Geraldine) Van Peursem, both of Maurice, seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Henry Brink of Lakewood, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Gertrude) De Jong of Orange City.
