Mrs. G. Ahrens Dies At Age 50

Mrs. George W. Ahrens, 50, died Sunday night at a Sioux City hospital after an illness of eight months.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. today (Thursday) at the Big Springs Baptist church with Pastor Henry Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery under direction of the Schroeder Funeral home of Akron.

Active casket bearers will be George Busch, Richard Harry, Garry Westling, Erlyn Cain, Gene Wakeman and Donald Schoen. Honorary pall bearers arc Alfred Jacobs, Forrest Kennedy, Ernest Hendricks, Leo Larson, Walter
Erickson and Lyle Rasmussen.

Mrs. Ahrens, the former Helen Neoma Wynia, was born September 3, 1916, at Westfield, Iowa. She married George Ahrens October 17, 1934, at Yankton, S. D. She had been employed at Otis Radio in Hawarden for 12 years prior to her illness.

Survivors include the widower; two sons, Marvin, who is serving with the Air Force in Hawaii, and Robert of Elk Point; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald M. (Betty) Pedersen of Sioux City, Mrs. Gordon (Donna) Schoellerman of Hawarden, and Linda, at home; three brothers, Raymond of Sioux City, Melvin of Santa Ana, Calif., and Frank of Redondo Beach, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Meredith of Los Altos, Calif., Mrs. Dollie Bonnema of Le Mars, Mrs. Bertha Wiese of Merrill and Mrs. Clara Ager of Fredericksburg, Iowa, and six grandchildren.

Marvin Ahrens returned from Hawaii to attend the funeral services for his mother.
