Mrs. John Doohen Dies At Age 93

Mrs. John Doohen, 93, mother of William and Alex Doohen, died Monday at her home in Hawarden.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 Wednesday morning at St Mary's Catholic church, Rev. William Carel officiating. The rosary was recited at the Dow Funeral home Tuesday night. Interment was at St. Mary's cemetery, Garry Owen, S.D.

Casket Bearers were Frank Andriesen, Vinton Kane, Robert Koob, George Hirschman, Jack McManaman and Peter Fath.

The former Nora Conran, Mrs. Doohen was born July 15, 1873, in Dublin, Ireland. She came to the United States with her parents when she was eight years old.

She was reared and educated in Chicago and was married at Garry Owen in 1901. Mr. Doohen died March 2, 1946, at Hawarden. She had lived in this area the last 20 years.

Survivors include two sons, William and Alex, both of Hawarden; three daughters, Miss Nora Doohen of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mrs., W. E. Shouse of Vermillion and Mrs. Hudson Engle of Sioux City; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
