Mrs. M. Peterson Dies Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Merle Peterson, 72, wore held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Methodist church with Dr. G. S. Bruland officiating. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr., was the soloist and the organist was Mrs. Don Hummel.

Active casket bearers were Bernard Wiksen, Tony Visser, Clarence Eilers, Amos Ericson, Roy Dimmick and Keith Morehead. Honorary casket bearers included Emil Anderson, Leland Blomberg, sr., Walter Larson, Walter Jensen, Orville Conway and Lyle Rasmussen.

Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of the Barnard-Dow Funeral home.

Mrs. Peterson died Saturday morning at the Hawarden hospital after a short illness. The former Emma Johnson was born May 18, 1894 at Larimore, N. D. She married Merle Peterson on March 26, 1919 and had lived in the Hawarden vicinity since 1922.

She was a member of the Methodist church and of the Hawarden Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Elizabeth Ellen in infancy, and Mrs. Erma Burington in 1959.

Survivors include a son, Vernon of Hawarden; two brothers, Ole Johnson of Seattle, Wash., and Goodwin Johnson of Yakima, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. W. D. Dailey of Rapid City, S. D and two grandchildren.
