Mrs. Bea Nolen Dies At Age 70

Funeral services for Mrs. Bea Nolan, 70, of Madison, S. D., former Hawarden resident who died last Thursday at a Little Rock, Ark., hospital, having become ill while visiting in the home of her daughter there, were held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at the Catholic church in Madison with burial there.

The rosary was recited at the funeral home in Madison Sunday night.

Margaret Bea Burke was born March 11, 1895, in rural Hawarden. At the age of 10 she was orphaned and came to live with her aunt, Mrs. Minnie Johnson. She attended schools in Hawarden.

She married Dr. A. H. Nolan of Hawarden at St. Mary's Catholic church with the wedding breakfast given at the home of Mrs. Johnson. They went to Madison, S. D., where she made her home the last 40 years. He died in 1955.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Bland of Wheaton, Illinois, and Mrs. Walter Slakovich of Little Rock, Ark., and 15 grandchildren.

Mrs. Lucille Nelson, a sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Klauer, cousins from Akron and, Mrs. Madeline Fennecy, a niece from Omaha, were among those attending the services. Mrs. Minnie Johnson in the geriatrics ward of the Akron hospital was unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Burke and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Burke, cousins, attended the rosary at Madison Sunday night.
