Moody Johnson Dies At Age 81

Funeral services for Moody Johnson, 81. of rural Ireton, formerly of Hawarden, who died from'a heart attack at his farm home Wednesday. were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Nazareth Lutheran church in Beresford, Rev. Gerald Schect officiating. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Beresford American Legion post with burial at St. Paul’s cemetery at Beresford under the direction of the Waas Funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born April 26, 1894, in Union county, South Dakota, south of Beresford, and grew to manhood there. He served with the United States armed forces during World War .

On April 25, 1932, he married Hazel Strom at Canton, S. D. They resided at Sioux City where he was employed as a trainman for the Milwaukee railroad. He retired in 1961 and moved to Hawarden and for the past couple of years resided on a farm near Ireton.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Russell of Hawarden and Roger of Sioux Falls; a daughter, Connie Jean, at home and four grandchildren
