Final Services Held At Ireton For A.W. Bartlett

Funeral services for Arthur W. Bartlett, 68, of 2311 Jennings street, Sioux City, former longtime Ireton resident who died Tuesday following a short illness, having been hospitalized at the Methodist hospital with a heart ailment, were held at the Ireton Methodist church Thursday. Dr. G. S. Bruland, pastor of the Hawarden and Ireton Methodist churches, officiated at the 2 o'clock service. Masonic graveside rites wore conducted at Pleasant Hill cemetery by Dale lodge No. 456 A, F. A. M. Interment was under the direction of the Barnard-Dow Funeral home.

Casket bearers were Charles Houlton, Martin Eilts, Elmer Vander Hamm, Robert Groom, Edward Kading and Marvin Grotenhuis. Mrs. Hal Shoemaker was the organist with Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr., as the soloist.

Mr. Bartlett was born December 6, 1896, at Ireton where he resided his entire life with the exception of the last few months in Sioux City.

On February 28, 1935, he married Geraldine Taylor at Iowa City. She taught in the West Sioux public school system at Ireton prior to their moving to Sioux City where she accepted a position at Leeds.

He was associated with the Pionce Seed Corn Co. of Des Moines and operated a custom corn shelling business at Ireton, retiring in 1961. He moved to Sioux City in August of 1965. He was a member of the Methodist church at Ireton, transferring to the Sioux City Methodist church upon his change of residence. He was an active Mason, being a member of Dale lodge of Hawarden, the Columbian Commandery No. 57 KT of Le Mars, Royal Arch Masons chapter 119 of Hawarden, the Masonic council and Sioux City consistory and Abu Bekr Shrine temple. He served as past patron of the Loyal chapter of the Order of Eastern Star at Hawarden.

Survivors include the widow; two brothers, W. H. Bartlett of Cedar Rapids and Reuben Bartlett of San Bernardino, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Feuerstine and Mrs. Dora Zilm, both of San Bernardino, and Miss Edythe Bartlett of Hawarden.
