CLARENCE POSTMA
Clarence Postma, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Sheldon Sanford Hospital in Sheldon.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 1:30 P.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Rev. David Brower officiating.
Private family burial will be Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 12:30 P.M. at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, prior to the Memorial Service.
Clarence Postma was born on July 21, 1925, in Sheldon, Iowa. He was the son of Rens and Maggie (Burrie) Postma. He lived his youth in the Sheldon and Boyden, Iowa, areas, and attended school in Sheldon. Clarence served in World War 11. He attained the rank of Private First Class, and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Dean Wilts of Archer, Iowa, on November 21, 1947, in Sheldon. They lived in Boyden, Iowa, where they farmed for 13 years before moving to Paullina and Sheldon, Iowa, where they owned and operated Postma Water Conditioning and Laundromat for 22 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. He was a former member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden, where he served on the consistory and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, where he served on the consistory. He was a Lion’s Club member in Paullina and Sheldon.
Clarence and Evelyn enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, when they retired. Clarence also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golf.
He passed away on Wednesday, February, 17, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Evelyn of Sheldon, IA; his children: Nancy and Dudley Hinz of Paullina, IA, Connie Jane and Rick Pinckard of San Diego, CA, Roger and Mary Postma of Peterson, IA, Claude and Sara Postma of Paullina, IA, Evonne Postma of Newport Beach, CA, Mark and Jeri Postma of Sheldon, IA; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Alyce and husband Tim Dykstra, Ann and husband Henry Van Beek.
