IRWIN DE VOS
Irwin "Irv" De Vos, 70, of Sioux Center died Sunday Feb. 10, 2002 afternoon at his home.
Funeral services were Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Van Rathbun officiating.
De Vos was born to Ed and Mary De Vos on November 11, 1931, in Sioux Center. He married Bernice Jansen on March 28, 1952, in Sioux Center. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 14, 1953, and served overseas in Korea until April 27, 1955. Upon his honorable discharge, he joined his wife in Sioux Center and opened Northside Body Shop with partner Art Van Riessen. He co-owned the business with Van Riessen for 19 years until health complications forced him to stop working in the shop.
He was a member of Central Reformed Church, Sioux Center.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Archie Port of Alton, IA., and Teresa and Rick Van Ravenswaay of Sioux Center; a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Ev De Vos of Sioux Center; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, Hanna; and a brother, Ken De Vos of Sioux Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
