LOUIS N. J. WIELENGA
Mr. Louis N.J. Wielenga, age 79, of Orange City, passed away Friday, July 21, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. David Sterk officiated. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Louis Wielenga was born November 4, 1920, in rural Orange City, the son of Jake and Grace (Kroeze) Wielenga. He was raised at Orange City. On June 29, 1950, he married Josephine Elnora Vande Brake in Orange City. They farmed at Orange City until 1994, when they retired into town.
On March 31 of this year, he became a resident of Pleasant Acres. Lou was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; "Jo" a son and his wife, Jerry and Evonne Wielenga, of Maurice; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Wally Valentine and Janna and Allan Bolkema, all of Sioux Center; eleven grandchildren, Jill, and her husband, Rick Schouten; Jeff, Jodi, and Darren Wielenga; Jamey Valentine, and his wife, Rachel; Emilee, Teri, and Wade Valentine; and Elizabeth, Jonathan, and Sara Bolkema; two brothers, Garry Wielenga and Ernest Wielenga, and his wife, Jeanette; and a sister and her husband, Marietta and Henry Mulder, all of Orange City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Wilmina Wielenga.
