CORNELIA VANDER GRIEND
Mrs. Cornelia Vande Griend, age 79, 1995 of Orange City, passed away Thursday, September 7, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital, of injuries received in a traffic accident.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 9, 1995 at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. David Ter Beest officiated. Interment followed at Capel Township Cemetery, near Middleburg. Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home was in charge.
Cornelia was born March 4, 1916, at Orange City, the daughter of William and Jennie (Spaan) Muilenburg. She was raised at Middleburg. On December 25, 1934, she married Jake A. Vande Griend at Middleburg. They farmed at Middleburg until 1971, when they moved to Orange City. Mr. Vande Griend passed away January 21, 1976, at Orange City.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Eleanor Wielenga and Janice, and her husband, Harlan Van Roekel, all of Orange City; six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stanley Wielenga; a brother, Henry Muilenburg; and a sister, Dorothy Wallace.
