JOAN VAN RAVENSWAAY
SIOUX CENTER. Iowa — Joan Van Ravenswaay, 71, of Sioux Center died Wednesday,
Oct. 2, 2002, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. G.M. De Leeuw officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., home.
Joan Van Ravenswaay was born to Joe and Dena (Vande Hoef) Van Ravenswaay on Nov. 5, l930, near Sioux Center. She was raised on the family farm and moved into Sioux Center with her parents in 1954. That year, she began working at Casey’s Bakery in downtown Sioux Center. She was employed with the bakery for 38 years. She was a member of Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Adrian and Lena Van Ravenswaay of Sioux
Center, Gerard "Gary" and Sadie Van Ravenswaay of Orange City, Iowa, and John and Tillie
Van Ravenswaay of Kissimmee, Fla.:two sisters-in-law, Ruth Van Ravenswaay of Ireton, Iowa, and Lila Van Ravenswaay of Ontario, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews. grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Donald Van Ravenswaay.
