SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -Leneth "Len" Visser, 51, of Sioux Center, formerly of Rock Rapids and Orange City, Iowa, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility following a six-year battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Cliff Hoekstra officiating. Burial will be in prior to the service Thursday in West lawn Cemetery. There will be a family prayer service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.Visitation will he 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mr. Visser was born May 23, 1952, in Orange City, to Clarence and Everly (Reinders) Visser. He attended Orange City Christian School and graduated from Unity Christian High School in 1970. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing.
He married Allyson Drake on Feb. 23, 1974. The couple divorced nine years later. He worked in maintenance and as a plumber before becoming disabled.
While living in Rock Rapids for the past 10 years, he was a member of Rock Rapids Christian Reformed Church. He was involved in Hope Haven in Rock Valley, Iowa. He had been a resident of Sioux Center Community Nursing Facility since February, 2003,
Survivors include his mother, Everly Visser of Orange City; three children, Camila Becker of Sioux City, Aaron (Jenny) Becker of Omaha, and Eric (Rusty) Becker of Prattville, Ala.; a grandson, Caden Becker; two brothers, Loren (Pam) Visser of Orange City, and Scott Visser of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters. Karen (Jeris) Brantsen and Rachel (Ted) Hengeveld, all of Sioux Center; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence.
