Last Rites Held For Mrs. Ball, 87
Mrs. Theodore Ball, 87, a resident of the Ireton and Hawarden vicinities 61 years, died New Years day in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Swanson.
Ida Brandt was born in Germany August 1, 1864, but came to America when a young woman, and was married to Theodore Ball, her sweetheart in her native land, October 16, 1890.
Mr. Ball had preceded her here to establish a home for her on a farm near Ireton. She lived there until 1901 when the family moved onto the farm six miles south of Hawarden. This was her home for 48 years. Mr. and Mrs. Ball lived in Hawarden two years.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Germany. Later she joined the Trinity Lutheran church in Hawarden.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Roy Swanson and Mrs. Sharp Allen of Hawarden; three sons, Ewald Ball of Le Mars, Otto of Anthon, Iowa, and John of Prineville, Ore.; 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband. two sons and two daughters preceded her in death. The sons died in infancy One daughter, Mrs. Mose Hendricks, died last year and Mrs. Jake Hoogland died several years ago.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'c1ock Friday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev.H.E. Sieving officiating. Burial was at Ireton under the direction of the Barnard Funeral home
