MAURICE, Iowa — Leo L. Siege, 51, of Maurice died Wednesday, July 13, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital due to complications resulting from a farm accident on June 27 at his home.
A private family burial be at 9:30 am. Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Ireton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Faith Lutheran Church, in Orange City. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Mr. Siege was born December 18, 1942 in Le Mars, the son of Silas and Luella (Vander Hamm) Siege. He graduated from Maurice-Orange City High School in 1960. On August 25, 1962, he married Ruth Muilenburg in Orange City. The couple farmed near Maurice from 1964 until the time of his death. He had served on the board of the Farmers’ Co-Operative Co. of which he was a former president. In 1986 he was employed by the Sioux County ASCS in measurement service. In 1991 he started a Dekalb seedcorn dealership.
Mr. Siege was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church where he served as a lay minister and on many committees. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman’s League and was formerly on the Lutheran Layman’s League board of the Iowa District West.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Lisa Connolly of St. Paul, Minn., Julie of New York City and Pam of Minnetonka, Minn.; his mother, Luella Schiltz and her husband, Irvin of Le Mars; a sister, Roma Boyd and her husband, John of Le Mars; a brother, Larry and his wife, Barb of Maurice and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Silas.
