Everet was the son of Benjamin and Katie (Tol) Van Engelenhoven. He was raised on a farm by Otley. He attended country school and then assisted his father on the farm.

At the age of 21, he continued his education at Central Academy and College in Pella. He then graduated from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan.

On August 14, 1933, he married Clara Rebecca Plette in Pella. They pastored the Alton Reformed Church in Alton from 1935 to 1940 and the Second Reformed Church in Fulton, Illinois, from 1940 to 1947. In 1947, he joined Reformed Church Extension, which included founding the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. In 1949, they moved toOrange City, where he was Director of Development at Northwestern College for 22 years.

Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Van Engelenhoven resided at the Pioneer Memorial Home and the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community, both in Orange City.

He was a member of the American Reformed Church. Over the years, he had been involved in many church, college, and community activities.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Lee and Audrey Van Engelenhoven of Lakeland, Florida; Paul and Vernie Van
Engelenhoven, of Orange City; and David and Marilyn Van Engelenhoven
of Orange City; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Pam and Bo Jones, Pat and Wayne Weeks, Debbie and Henry Randall, Kim and Bruce Hurst,
Sally and Brent Thompson, Mary and Pat McQuillen, Paul and Laurie Van Engelenhoven, Juliana and Travis Else, and Benjamin Van
Engelenhoven; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Carrie Steenhoek of Pella; Cora Van Howeling of Des Moines; Bess Kuiper of
Pella: and Katie Vroom of Pella.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Lee Van Engelenhoven Jr.; a great-grandson, William McQuillen; a brother, John Van Engelenhoven; and four sisters. Jennie Dykstra, Ethel Menninga, Johanna Den Add and Elva Monster.

Memorials are being directed to Northwestern College.
