ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Marcia Vis, 79, of Orange City died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at American Reformed Church with the Rev. Harlan Van Oort officiating. Burial will be prior to the services at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vis was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Orange City, the daughter of John H. and Ada Mae (Reinders) Boone. She was raised in Orange City where she graduated from Northwestern Junior College in 1940. In 1942 she graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Robert Willis Vis on June lO, 1942, in Sioux City. They made their home in Orange City where she was a librarian at Northwestern College for more than 20 years. Mr. Vis died Jan. 14, 1997, in Orange City,

She was a member of American Reformed Church where she participated in women’s organizations. She also was active in American Legion Auxiliary in Orange City, serving as secretary for many years. She enjoyed collecting stamps and reading mysteries.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dr. Bonnie Mae and Dr. Lee K. Meier of Orange City; a son, Robert Boone Vis of Nederland, Cob.; two grandchildren, Dr. Clinton Douglas Korver and Juliana Korver Bower; one great-granddaughter; two brothers and their wives, Darlo G. and Kay Boone of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Jon A. and Nila Boone of Rapid City, S.D.; a half sister-in-law and her husband, Margaret and Dale Hubers of Orange City; and a half brother-in-law and his wife, Norman and Carol Bastemeyer of West Des Moines.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to Orange City Public Library.
