AGE: 91 years 20 days
Funeral Service: Friday; August 2, 1996, 10:00 a.m.

INTERMENT: West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, IA
ARRANGEMENTS: VanEtten-Oolman-VanGelder Funeral Home, Orange City, IA.
Arie was the son of Gerritt and Ida (Ver Steeg) Van Marel.
On February 16, 1932, he married Elizabeth H. "Betty" Van Horssen at Maurice. They made their home in Orange City, where Arie was employed in the body shop of Cambier Motors for several years. He also worked for the City of Orange City and for Sioux County. Mrs. Van Marel passed away December 21, 1985, at Orange City.
In May of 1986, Mr. Van Marel became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. Three months ago, he transferred to the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.
He was a member of the American Reformed Church.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Van Marel of Ames; a granddaughter and her husband. Debra and Chandler Thomas of Lakeville, Minnesota; two grandsons and their wives. Steve and Denise Van Marel and Ross and Renee Van Marel all of Ames; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Thomas of Le Mars; and Hendrene Van Oort of Brainerd, Minnesota; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Russell. and three brothers.
